"PETA's Stance:
- Believe in a world without pets: PETA states that it would be in the best interest of animals if the practice of "pet keeping" never existed. They view the domestication of animals as having led to an overpopulation crisis and suffering for many animals.
- Focus on animal rights: PETA's overall philosophy is based on animal rights, believing that animals have an inherent worth and should be free from human exploitation.
- Use of euthanasia: PETA acknowledges that euthanasia is sometimes a necessary option for suffering or unadoptable animals, considering it a compassionate and dignified release in certain circumstances. However, this practice has also led to accusations of PETA being responsible for high euthanasia rates in their shelters."
As to Activists' attacks on brachy breeds. It is important to note that ANY dog breed can deal with elongated soft palates and BOAS breathing issues .... NOT just "brachy breeds" and pugs. Even German Shepherds can deal with palate issues! Adding a "snout" or longer muzzle/nose will NOT help improve breeding. (Click to read more.) More health testing and higher standards of breeders is the only solution. Yes, ban Backyard Breeders who do not complete ALL recommended health testing. That is why the Pugiano's perform concerts to raise money for health research. Health testing is expensive, but a necessary component to preserving the Pug Breed from the times of Confucius to the 21st Century.
